Late 1990s:

I stumbled upon a virtual celebrity summit. I was waiting in the lobby of the Reebok Sports Club when Regis Philbin sat down at a table next to me. A few minutes later Craig Kilborn came over and started talking to Regis. A few minutes after that Richard Belzer came upon the scene. They made celebrity chit-chat while I attempted not to listen.

September 25, 2013:

I met Richard Belzer (aka L&O:SVU’s Detective John Munch) in an elevator today. Very nice guy. Upon my telling him I’m a big fan he responded with: “Oh, you’re the one!” It was a packed elevator and he was about 6 inches away from me. I told him I was a big fan and everyone else in the elevator (except 1 guy) immediately started gushing at him. It was like my speaking gave them permission to say something too.
