Mid 1990s:

I was walking along a street in the West Village one afternoon when I saw Ben Affleck ringing the bell of a brownstone. He looked irritated. I decided to hang around and see what was going on. I bought a newspaper and sat on a stoop across the street. After several minutes of ringing, the door opened and there stood Gwyneth Paltrow, Affleck’s girlfriend at the time. They had a heated discussion, she slammed the door and he stormed off.

Paltrow’s house was just down the street from a bar I used to frequent, and on several drunken nights my friends and I walked past the house and screamed “Gwyneth” at the top of our lungs. She never came out. I can’t imagine why.
